Miroslava Večeřová works across sculpture, drawing, performance, installation and film. Her work is shaped by an intuitive approach to the world around her. Time, ecology and the limits of human knowledge are recurring themes, as she explores the shifting boundaries between ourselves and the environments we live in.
This Sussex Spotlight exhibition, _Every Second Breath_, explores our relationship with the ocean. The ocean and the organisms that live in it produce more than half of the oxygen in Earth’s atmosphere, meaning that roughly every second breath we take is linked to marine life. Bringing together new and earlier works, the exhibition asks us to reconsider where we end and the natural world begins.
Informed by personal encounters on Sussex beaches and through elemental material choices, these works conjure up a living world that existed long before us and extends far beyond us.
