Bones in the Desert

Dir: Chris Elwell
Two lives, one past, a hundred years apart, a story that refuses to stay buried. The play is set in Berlin, 2022, where Artur, a 19-year-old refugee, is stuck between worlds. He meets Hagop, someone from his journey, and they reunite, but it becomes a reckoning with identity, memory, and freedom. The play explores the legacy of genocide, mental well-being, racism, and the cost of silence. It is a powerful new play that speaks to young adult audiences with heart, humor, and an unflinching gaze. The story weaves a haunting tapestry of loss, inheritance, and rebellion. Presented in an immersive style with a contemporary soundtrack, it is about where we come from, who we carry with us, and what it means to belong.
The play is written by British-Armenian playwright Joe Nerssessian and is the latest production from Half Moon, the UK’s leading small-scale young people’s venue and touring company. The shows will be followed by a Q&A with the cast and production team.
