Art Sundays: A Feast of Beasts

Join artists Dawn East and Lauren Burrows for a very special Art Sundays creative workshop. Using clay, light and shadow, we’ll make our own nocturnal gathering. Create food and objects from clay, experiment with silhouettes, and make creatures that might appear after dark: foxes, moths, bats, cats, owls, spiders or something imagined. As the session unfolds, the things we make will come together around a table and across the space, creating a temporary moonlit world of objects, shadows and unexpected visitors. Inspired by Prem Sahib’s Fox (2004), currently on display in the De La Warr Pavilion gallery, this workshop looks at what happens to familiar spaces after dark, when different creatures begin to move through them. No previous art experience is needed. Open to all ages; children must be accompanied by an adult. Come on your own or with friends or family. You can make something to take away, contribute to the shared installation, or simply spend some time experimenting with the materials. Art Sundays are free drop-in creative workshops that take place in the Studio, open to all ages. Each week, the workshops will be led by an artist taking inspiration from our exhibitions or events programme.
