Squid's Soothing Sounds

Squid's story began in Brighton, where they formed in 2016, growing out of the city's Windmill scene. The band, consisting of Ollie Judge, Louis Borlase, Anton Pearson, Laurie Nankivell, and Arthur Leadbetter, started releasing music independently before signing to Warp Records in 2020. Their debut album, Bright Green Field, was a critical success, reaching No. 4 on the UK Albums Chart and showcasing their blend of new wave, krautrock, and post-punk.

The band's music is a unique mix of genres, incorporating jazz, punk, psychedelia, funk, post-punk, and dub. Their albums, including Bright Green Field, O Monolith, and Cowards, have received widespread praise for their energetic sound and experimental approach. Squid's influences include Neu! and This Heat, and they have been associated with the Windmill scene in Brighton.

On Saturday, 31 October 2026, Squid will be performing an hour-long ambient DJ set at Where Else? in Margate, followed by a signing session for their debut LP, Bright Green Field.
