Maverick soulmates Ged and Dave are on a mission through the winding lanes and hidden tracks of North Devon, to record the lives and experiences of people living without mains electricity. Where is Heaven is about life off-grid in Devon and an awful lot more.
Gerard Bryan and David Rafique's award-winning film, captured over 10 years, shows not only the beauty of an often-harsh rural environment, but also the spirit of the wonderfully diverse off-grid characters who inhabit it. Their stories at first appear to be loose threads but quickly become an intricate tapestry of philosophies and vibrant wit, united by the common search for happiness.
The rich mix of personalities, stunning landscapes and the musical accompaniment of Cosmo Sheldrake deliver the perfect antidote to the intensity of life in the modern world.
The film has filled village halls, film clubs, pubs, outdoor screenings and cinemas across the South West, Sussex and London — and won Best Film audience awards in both the UK and the US. It's grossed more than £30,000 at the box office through word of mouth alone.
