Daniel Foggin, guitarist and writer of Smote, spent last summer living and working in a farmhouse in Kelso, near the Scottish border. This experience inspired the title of their fourth album, A Grand Stream, which was largely recorded in the farmhouse. The album is a psychic voyage into the ether, using drone and repetition to create a series of incantations that summon spectres and revelations. The record has a rich rural intensity, but is also perhaps the darkest and most foreboding work Smote have made to date.
