Night Works Album Release Show (picture: Where Else?)

Margate-based Night Works, the solo moniker of Metronomy & Christine and the Queens collaborator Gabriel Stebbing, is releasing his sophomore LP ‘Tongue & Groove’ at Elsewhere on the day of its release via new label 21CC. The album is a journey through a kaleidoscope of musical influences ranging from sunshine 70s California singer-songwriter pop to Steely Dan, D’Angelo, Soul II Soul & the far-out deep cuts from Paul McCartney’s solo discography. Opening with the powerful voice of writer Ursula K le Guin, intoning on the power of words to affect societal change, this is no ordinary listen. Its creation was an epic, pandemic-interrupted peregrination taking in sessions in Paris, London and of course Margate. It’s here by the sea that the record had its genesis, and its final completion with the writing and recording of single ‘Good love’, which saw its radio debut on Lauren Laverne’s BBC 6Music show on 4 May. Produced by Margate-based James Greenwood, the album is one worth waiting for and this launch show promises to be very special. The first 25 ticket/LP bundles purchased will receive a special limited-edition version of the vinyl album with a sleeve hand-drawn by Gabriel. Vinyl to be collected in-store on the day of show.
