Hidden Beach At The Electric Palace

The Electric Palace has teamed up with Hidden Beach's Summer of Culture, a festival bringing global culture to Hastings and St Leonards this August. The cinema is screening a series of music-themed films, including Buena Vista Social Club, Summer of Soul, Searching for Sugar Man, and Babylon. Each film will be followed by a conversation hosted by Remi Vibesman. The films showcased include Black Orpheus, a 1959 retelling of Orpheus and Eurydice set at the Rio de Janeiro Carnaval with a bossa nova soundtrack, Buena Vista Social Club, a documentary about a reunited group of Cuban musicians, Summer of Soul, a documentary about the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival featuring Nina Simone and Stevie Wonder, Searching for Sugar Man, a documentary about two South Africans searching for their musical hero Rodriguez, and Babylon, a cult reggae sound clash story set in 80s London. These films offer a mix of music, culture, and conversation, providing a unique experience for attendees.
