On the first Sunday of the month, head ‘Down the Hatch’ for a night of queer & alternative comedy in Brighton. Resident MC Lee Peart will introduce you to extraordinary queer stand-ups, character comedians, musical performers, drag acts, ventriloquists, and other alternative comedy acts.

Previous acts include Alan Carr, James Acaster, Zoe Lyons, Suzi Ruffell, Sam Campbell, Twayna Mayne, Joe Black, Robert White, Lachlan Werner, Olga Koch, Kate Cheka, Josh Glanc, Jessica Fostekew, Jordan Brookes, Ania Magliano, Andrew O’Neill, Kate Butch, Jack Rooke, Helen Bauer, Daniel Foxx, Dane Buckley, Jodie Mitchell, Chloe Petts, John-Luke Roberts, Mark Bittlestone, Joe Sutherland, Kuan-wen Huang, Sharon Wanjohi, Sam Nicoresti, Elf Lyons, Rosie Jones and many more.

Very busy, very famous Irish cabaret star Mark T Cox said: “Genuinely one of the nicest spaces I’ve been to, and the whole team was so helpful and kind. We all felt very valued and cared for. It’s an excellent space and crowd, and I’d love to come back any time!”

Our 2026 Charity Partner for Down the Hatch comedy club is… the Allsorts Youth Project!

This local charity listens to, connects, and supports children and young people (under 26 years old) who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, or exploring their identity. By providing youth services, including groups and one-to-one sessions, support for parents and carers of LGBTQ+ children, and training to the wider community, Allsorts makes Sussex safer and more inclusive for LGBT+ people.

By donating to Allsorts, you are supporting LGBTQ+ children, young people, and their families, offering opportunities to build confidence, reduce isolation, and create a sense of belonging.

People are saying... We were really impressed in how well we were looked after when we attended Michael Akadiri the other day. A night of belly laughs guaranteed. It’s a cool venue and a credit to Brighton. Great night out! Mild emotional damage included, would absolutely risk sitting in the front row again. Komedia isn’t just a comedy club. It’s the sound of people forgetting everything else for a while and that’s worth showing up for. Guaranteed good evening out. Easy to find, good selection of food and drinks, great atmosphere. Refreshing, thought-provoking and always very funny. It has that reputation of being one of those go-to spots where you’re pretty much guaranteed a fun evening, even if you don’t recognise the comedians on the line-up. An evening of fun and laughs to share with my family and friends time and time again. Remembering some great nights with some of my favourite comedians for nearly 30 years! Mixture of new & more established comedians in a great location, well organised and a fair price. A lively room full of big laughs, quick wit, and the kind of night out where you forget to check your phone.
