Charlie Don't Surf, a Thanet-based covers band, are playing a show in aid of Margate's recovering grassroots music venue Whereelse. They specialise in classic punk, mod, ska, and rock and roll. The band features Alan Laffey on drums, John Slade on bass, Nick Bonell on lead guitar, and Trevor Neal on vocals and 2nd guitar. They have played in various locations across the region. DJ Mark will also be performing, playing a mix of funky ska and soul-tinged classics with a punked-up edge. He regularly supports Charlie Don't Surf, supplying complimentary sounds as their resident audio fluffer. The event is a fundraiser to help the venue, which is important in supporting young, local musicians and bands. The band and DJ are looking forward to the gig and urge people to come and show their support.
