A shy girl, outcast by her peers and sheltered by her religious mother, unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom. The film explores the deep emotional truths and powerful performances that redefined the horror genre. It is an adaptation of a Stephen King novel, and its style and themes have been compared to Hitchcock's Psycho. The movie conveys an impassioned sympathy for a bullied teenage girl with telekinetic powers, making it a horror classic that doesn’t conform to the narrative beats of the genre.
