art-and-play

Join artist Jo Pearl to hear about her creative process, learn about the hidden beings that live in the soil, and model your own soil microorganisms out of clay. A campaigning ceramic artist, Jo is keen to share her joy and enthusiasm for her principal material – clay. Explore the tactile plasticity of clay that can be sculpted into almost any shape, including weird and wonderful ones like the microbes and minibeasts living in the earth, while discussing the issues Jo’s work addresses. Plus a chance to watch Jo’s latest clay stop frame animation Dirty Secret, about soil health and the potential for regenerative agriculture to heal the soil. No experience necessary. All materials are provided.
