Burning Secrets Revealed

Rio Matchett's life took a dramatic turn at 18 when she burned down a church, an act that would lead to her being sectioned and incarcerated for arson. Her memoir, Pyromaniac, is a deeply personal account of this experience and her subsequent search for understanding.

The book delves into the complexities of fire, weaving together history, anthropology, psychology, myth, and literature to explore its role in human existence. From its power to create and destroy, to its significance in shaping human progress, fire is revealed as a multifaceted metaphor.
