Christmas Celebrations Unfold

The Christmas season at St Mary the Virgin Church begins on Sunday, 29 November 2026, with a special service at 4pm, featuring specially chosen music from the choir, readings, and hymns. This marks the start of the church's preparations for Christmas, which will culminate in a Midnight Communion service on Christmas Eve.

On Tuesday, 15 December, the church will host a Christmas Tree Festival, showcasing a collection of trees decorated by the community. This will be followed by a Carol Service on Sunday, 20 December, at 5pm, where a joint choir from across the parish will perform, and the congregation will have the opportunity to join in with traditional carols.

The church's Christmas celebrations will continue with a Christingle Service on Christmas Eve at 4pm, designed for families with children, and a Midnight Communion service at 11pm. On Christmas morning, a service will be held at 10am, and although there will be no service at St Mary's on Sunday, 27 December, a Holy Communion service will take place at St Mary's Great Chart at 10am. The event will take place at St Mary the Virgin Church, Ashford, and tickets are with the button beside the article.
