Radical Roots Explored
A novel about a family torn apart by the desire for change is coming to Resident Music. Clark, Harriet's work, The Hill, is a story of a child growing up between worlds.
Are you intrigued by stories of families shaped by their convictions? The Hill, a novel by Clark, Harriet, tells the story of Suzanna, a young girl raised by her grandmother after her mother's involvement in a radical group leads to a life sentence in prison.
The novel delves into the complexities of Suzanna's life, as she navigates her grandmother's unforgiving stance on her mother's crime, and the influence of her grandmother's friends, who were once part of the Communist Party.
On Thursday, 5 November 2026, at Resident Music in Brighton, you can experience The Hill. Tickets are with the button beside the article.
