Sample Masters

Are you ready to experience the eclectic sound of The Avalanches? This Australian electronic collective has been pushing the boundaries of music since 1997, and their debut album, Since I Left You, is a testament to their innovative approach. The album, assembled from roughly 3,500 vinyl samples, moves seamlessly through disco, sunshine pop, soul, and hip-hop, featuring the euphoric title track and cult classic "Frontier Psychiatrist."

The Avalanches' story began in Melbourne, where school friends Robbie Chater and Tony Di Blasi formed the group, gathering a large library of second-hand records that would later become the foundation of their music. The current line-up, which includes Andy Szekeres, who joined in 2026, continues to create music that is both nostalgic and forward-thinking.

The Avalanches will be performing at Resident Music in Brighton on Friday, 20 November 2026. Tickets are with the button beside the article. With their unique sound and critically acclaimed albums, including Wildflower and We Will Always Love You, this is an event not to be missed. The group's music is a kaleidoscopic masterpiece of sun-kissed disco-pop, and their live performance is sure to be an unforgettable experience.
