Charmian Devi Brings Soulful Sound

Charmian Devi's debut solo album, Diamond Hour, released in May 2026, marked a significant milestone in her musical career. The album, co-produced by Tony Garnier, showcases her soulful and melodic alternative pop sound. With a background rooted in punk, Devi's music has evolved over the years, influenced by her experiences and collaborations with various artists. Born in Montreal, Canada, Devi began her musical journey as the lead singer of a Vancouver punk trio in the 1990s, touring the North West circuit and Canada.

As she navigated her career, Devi performed in London with the band L.I.A.R. and later formed a duo with John Lok. Her time in New York led to the release of two incredible singles, Radio of None and No Peace, in 2020, featuring notable musicians Lenny Kaye, Tony Garnier, Steve Shelley, and Brian Marsella. These collaborations not only demonstrate Devi's versatility but also her ability to work with a range of talented artists. Her music is characterized by its soulful, melodic sound, with a touch of distortion and ethereal qualities, as seen in her 2024 single It Took You By Surprise.

With her new band, Charmian Devi and The Raven, comprising drummer Lance Taylor and bassist Suzanne Gailey, Devi continues to create and perform music that showcases her unique sound. The band's first gig at the Dublin Castle in London in July 2026 marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter in Devi's career.
