4 Nov 2026 – 25 Nov 2026
Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts (Brighton)
Split Britches, a lesbian-feminist performance company founded in 1980, will present its latest show, Last Gasp: A Recalibration, at the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts in Brighton from Wednesday, 4 November 2026. The company, which now continues as the duo of Peggy Shaw and Lois Weaver, has a long history of producing work that spans theatre, live art, solo performance, workshops, and digital media.
Last Gasp: A Recalibration is a performance that considers what it means to be together and to perform after a major crisis, with episodes titled 'The Trump in Me' and 'How to Set a Table in an Emergency'. The show combines spoken word, movement, and Zoom technology, and is followed by a post-show conversation. It is recommended for audiences aged 16 and over due to strong language and adult themes.
The show is presented by Marlborough Productions and is funded by several organisations, including the Guggenheim Foundation and Arts Council England. Lois Weaver, a professor of Contemporary Performance at Queen Mary University of London, and Peggy Shaw, a performer, writer, and producer, are the driving forces behind Split Britches. Tickets are with the button beside the article. The performance will run until Wednesday, 25 November 2026 at 23:00 at the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts in Brighton.
