Brighton Café Joins National Reading Initiative

Originating from a passion for reading and community, the Join The Lounge Library campaign is a nationwide effort by the Lounge café-bar group to promote literacy and a love for books.

• Customers can browse the bookshelf at Alcampo Lounge, selecting titles from a range of genres and ages, and take one home in exchange for a book of their own. • The 'Blind Date With A Book' events will feature books wrapped in plain paper with intriguing clues, encouraging customers to step out of their comfort zone and discover new authors. • Book clubs are also welcome to use the lounge's spaces for free, with customers able to start or join a club by reaching out to the Alcampo Lounge team.

On Monday, 2 November 2026, Alcampo Lounge in Brighton will be hosting its Join The Lounge Library event, as part of the National Year of Reading initiative. The event will take place at the Alcampo Lounge, Brighton, and tickets are with the button beside the article. With its informal and welcoming atmosphere, Alcampo Lounge is the perfect spot to meet fellow book lovers and discover new titles. By supporting local schools, libraries, and reading organisations, the campaign aims to create a lasting impact on the community, making it a great opportunity to get involved and share a love for reading.
