Microscopic Fun

On Thursday, 5 November 2026, at Hastings Contemporary in Hastings, a microscopic adventure for children aged 8-12 will begin, running until Thursday, 3 December 2026.

The team from Soil Craft, a community interest company based in Burwash, East Sussex, will lead this five-week after-school art club. Soil Craft works to raise awareness of soil health and the life within soil, and their team has diverse backgrounds in fine art, photography, garden design, microbiology, and science education.

During the club, children will learn to use a microscope, examine soil samples from different coastal landscapes, and create artwork from their discoveries using various materials. Each session is designed for experimentation, making, and collaboration, allowing kids to explore and learn about the microscopic world in a fun and interactive way.
