FAMILY DAY: Inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry took place 1 Nov 2026 at Hastings Contemporary.

Growing up in a town steeped in history, artists Chantelle Brett and Claire Griffiths have drawn inspiration from the Bayeux Tapestry to create a Family Day event that brings the story to life. On Sunday, 1 November 2026, they will lead activities and a workshop at Hastings Contemporary, a bold, independent arts charity in Hastings Old Town.

The Family Day event is designed for families of all ages, with under 18s able to attend for free. Visitors will be able to see the gallery and participate in activities, including hands-on creative workshops and storytelling. The event is a great opportunity for families to learn about the Bayeux Tapestry and the events leading up to the Battle of Hastings in a fun and interactive way.

Hastings Contemporary, located in the heart of Hastings Old Town, is the perfect venue for this event. The gallery is known for its innovative programmes, including its ocean futures programme, which brings together artists, scientists, and local communities to explore climate and sustainability issues.
