Andrey Zvyagintsev, known for his critically acclaimed films The Return, Leviathan, and Loveless, is back with Minotaur, a hard-hitting political thriller that delves into the complexities of power and corruption. The film boasts a talented cast, including Dmitriy Mazurov, Iris Lebedeva, and Boris Kudrin, and is set in Russia during the immediate outbreak of the invasion of Ukraine. This setting provides a tense backdrop for the story of Gleb, a company director forced to compromise his moral beliefs.

Minotaur is a clever reworking of Claude Chabrol's La Femme Infidèle, and its thought-provoking depiction of power and corruption has already garnered attention, winning the Grand Prix at this year's Cannes Film Festival. The film's 141-minute runtime and Cert 15 rating suggest a mature and intense viewing experience, with subtitles provided for the Russian dialogue.

The screening of Minotaur will take place on Wednesday, 11 November 2026, at the Duke of York's Picturehouse in Brighton. Tickets are with the button beside the article. This film is the first in almost a decade from the exiled Russian director, making it a significant and highly anticipated event.
