You can wait until this one hits streaming services. It’s not terrible. I don’t think it takes itself too seriously— B minus horror movie. Only victim really is the little girl. The adults around her continued to make foolish decisions. I adore Jessica Chastain and I feel like her grade A acting really carries this film. Also wanna say this was also my first experience watching a film in theater with moving seats and it would give away all the…

Disclaimer: this review is a bit unfair (reasons are given why in the review) - will update this if I rewatch it and my opinion changes. The actual review: I made the mistake of watching this when I was EXTREMELY distracted and sleep-deprived, and when that happens, I miss what happens in the movie (not to mention Im someone that watches things with captions 99.99% of the time, yet I didn't use my theater's closed caption device like I should've…

Honestly, Other Mommy wasn’t bad, but something felt missing. It definitely gave me R-rated Coraline vibes! I loved the creepy visuals, Other Mommy’s abilities, and how the story explored childhood fears, family, and belonging through Bela’s perspective. The cast was great, especially Jessica Chastain, and I genuinely liked Russ. BUT URSULA??? SHE SUCKS!!! Her lack of growth and accountability was beyond frustrating. The twist was predictable,…

It's kind of a nothing burger. It jumps right into the scares and leaves the film to flounder with no backstory.

On one hand I like that this movie wastes no time getting right into it, it has the perfect setup to let this be a “Is my kid crazy?” for most of its runtime but it abandons that. This starts out refreshing but the problem is everything feels so weightless which leaves the constant scares completely ineffective. By the time people are CG bending into nothingness, I’m staring blankly at the screen. I’m also a stickler for some sort of rules in my…

I can't take full credit for this take *(thanks redditor theghostlyshark)* but it absolutely hits the nail on the head for me. I enjoyed this ride. It was like a nightmarish haunted house thrill ride - a deliciously twisted fairy tale. Don't take it too seriously and enjoy the show and scares.

The flaws in the film are apparent fairly quickly and persist throughout the entirety of the movie. It’s messy, oddly paced, and disjointed. Even so the movie absolutely achieves the atmosphere and desired effect that it’s going for. From beginning to end there’s a sense of dread elevated by unsettling visuals and a good amount of shudder inducing body horror. All of which combine to make this a pretty entertaining and gripping horror flick.…

Obviously, Rob Savage has never seen Andy Muschietti's It. If he had, he'd know that ridiculous CGI can ruin a good story. And if he'd seen Zombeavers, he'd know that nothing can save a stupid one.
