Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, and raised in Brazil, Alejandro Ahmed has developed a unique approach to dance that starts from the body, rather than traditional techniques. His company, Grupo Cena 11, has been a driving force in the Brazilian dance scene since 1993, known for its punk-inspired and physically driven work.
• The live intervention, Capturing the Forest, will feature a multimedia immersive installation that merges sculpture, ceramics, sound, film, and movement. • This project is a collaboration between Ahmed and UK artist Kristina Veasey, bringing together disabled and non-disabled participants in the UK and Brazil. • The installation explores access to nature for all, questioning the boundaries between the natural world and our everyday experiences.
The event will take place on Sunday, 1 November 2026, at the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts in Brighton. Tickets are with the button beside the article. As the director of the São Paulo City Ballet and a pioneer of 'physical perception', Ahmed's work continues to push the boundaries of dance and performance, making this live intervention a compelling experience for audiences.
