The documentary A Mixtape for Stom is a tribute to the late Japanese experimental filmmaker Stom Sogo, who was a key figure in New York's underground film scene in the early 2000s. Directed by Adrian Goycoolea, a close friend of Sogo's, the film draws on a personal archive of footage, interviews, and memory to create an intimate portrait of the artist. With appearances by notable figures such as Jonas Mekas and Bruce McClure, the film offers a nuanced exploration of Sogo's life and legacy.

A Mixtape for Stom is a 103-minute documentary that features a mix of English and Japanese with English subtitles. The film has not been certified by the British Board of Film Classification, and as such, it is only open to patrons aged 18 and over. The documentary will be screened at the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts in Brighton on Friday, 13 November 2026, as part of the CINECITY festival, which runs from 30 October to 16 November.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A session, providing a unique opportunity for audiences to engage with the film and its director. Tickets are with the button beside the article.
