Grim Glory: Lee Miller's Britain at War took place 31 Oct 2026 at Farleys House & Gallery (Lewes).
Lee Miller arrived in Britain just as war was declared, and with no permit to work, she used her camera to document the Blitz and its impact on civilians. Her photographs capture the destruction and the contributions people made to the war effort, as well as wartime fashion and the role of women in the armed forces. This period in her life was marked by her determination to report on the war despite the challenges she faced.
The exhibition, titled Grim Glory: Lee Miller's Britain at War, will feature a collection of photographs from the Lee Miller Archives. Before leaving Britain to report in Europe, Miller covered various aspects of life on the home front, including camouflage and the women who served in the armed forces. Her work provides a unique insight into this period in history.
The exhibition will take place on Saturday, 31 October 2026, at Farleys House & Gallery in Lewes. Tickets are with the button beside the article. This is an opportunity to see the work of a remarkable woman who made a significant contribution to photography and war reporting.
