Eric Ravilious: Linocut Christmas Cards Workshop

Eric Ravilious's beautiful winter imagery is set to inspire a new generation of artists at a linocut Christmas card making workshop in Eastbourne. The workshop, led by artist Zara Wilkins, will take place on Friday, 6 November 2026, at the Towner in Eastbourne, and will explore Ravilious's use of dots, dashes, and lines. Participants will have the opportunity to create one or two linocut designs and experiment with printing them in different colours, before using their designs to create handmade Christmas cards.

Zara Wilkins, the workshop tutor, has over three years' experience teaching art to beginner adults, making this a great opportunity for those new to linocut printing. The session will include a break with hot drinks provided, and participants will be able to take their lino designs away with them at the end. The Towner Christmas Fair will be open directly afterwards, from 4.00pm to 7.00pm.

The workshop is inspired by the works of Eric Ravilious, a British painter, designer, book illustrator, and wood-engraver, known for his watercolours of the South Downs and other English landscapes. The Towner in Eastbourne holds the largest collection of his work, and his distinctive style continues to inspire artists today. Tickets are with the button beside the article.
