Ashley Beedle's 2003 remix of Elton John's "Are You Ready for Love" became a number-one hit, showcasing his skill as a remixer and producer. This success is just one part of Beedle's extensive career, which began in the late 1980s during the acid house era. Born in Hemel Hempstead, England, in 1962, Beedle started DJing and eventually formed the Black Science Orchestra with Rob Mello and John Howard in 1992. The group's debut single, a reworking of The Trammps' "Where Were You", became a club hit and established Beedle as a talented producer.

Beedle's output spans a range of genres, including rare groove, disco-inspired house, and dub. He has been described as one of the UK's most celebrated house producers of the late 1990s and has worked with a variety of artists, including Emma-Jean Thackray and Hollie Cook. In addition to his work with the Black Science Orchestra, Beedle has also been part of the Ballistic Brothers and X-Press 2, and has released music on his own labels, Soundboy Entertainment, Afroart, and Ill Sun.

The fundraiser gig, which takes place on Sunday, 1 November 2026, at Where Else? in Margate, aims to raise funds to support Beedle's ongoing health care and adapt his home environment to meet his needs. The event features a talented line-up of performers, including Live Charlie Don't Surf, Harmony Bo, DJs DJ MARK, and Jo Wallace. Tickets are on sale, available with the button beside the article.

Beedle's career is a testament to his dedication and passion for music. Despite facing significant health challenges, including Stage 4 prostate cancer and a brain bleed, he continues to make music and inspire others. The Black Science Orchestra's 2026 Bandcamp release, Where Were You? Live Versions, revisits their 1992 debut single with live arrangements, demonstrating Beedle's ongoing creativity and commitment to his craft.

The fundraiser gig is an opportunity to support a beloved figure in the music industry and enjoy a night of great music. With a range of talented performers and a worthy cause, the event is sure to be a memorable one.
