Babeslam: Don't Go Breakin My Heart

On Monday, 2 November 2026, ELZ will host Babeslam: Don't Go Breakin My Heart at Where Else? in Margate. The event will feature 10 performers competing for the Babeslam title, with each performer having 3 minutes to showcase their poetry, performance, or comedy.

What can attendees expect to see? The performances will be scored by 3 random audience members, and the winner will headline the next slam. Performers can use the theme 'DON'T GO BREAKIN MY HEART' as inspiration for their acts, which can include poetry, performance, or comedy.

Who is behind the event? ELZ, a Margate-based multidisciplinary artist and comedian, founded Babeslam and will host the event. ELZ is known for blending songs, poems, and stand-up in their work and has hosted other events in the area, including a monthly karaoke night at Where Else?.

Why is it worth attending? The event provides a platform for new and fresh voices in Kent, particularly from the LGBTQ+ community, and performers do not need prior experience to sign up.
