Will Samson Electronic Folk
Electronic folk artist Will Samson is set to perform at Where Else? in Margate, bringing his unique blend of ambient, electronic, and acoustic music to the stage. With a decade of growth and learning since the release of his debut album Balance, Samson's new music is a testament to his evolving sound.
Will Samson's debut album Balance, released in 2012, was a lo-fi folk record with heavy tape hiss, and its title track gained radio play on BBC Radio 1 and 6. Since then, he has explored the middle ground between ambient, electronic, experimental, and acoustic music, often using old tape machines and analogue equipment. His latest album, Active Imagination, is a mesmerising testimonial to learning self-love and growing inner-confidence, with lyrics inspired by his attempts to learn lucid dreaming during the initial lockdowns of 2020.
Samson's music bends subtly between folk and electronica, with little pulses of experimental flourishes sitting next to his evocative vocals. His new album features violins arranged and performed by Beatrijs De Klerck, backing vocals by Rachael Dadd, and trumpet by David Allred, showcasing his ability to collaborate with other talented musicians. With influences from Sgt Pepper's and Luke Abbott's Translate LP, Samson's music is a unique blend of different styles and textures.
On Friday, 30 October 2026, Will Samson will be performing at Where Else? in Margate, and tickets are on sale: say tickets are with the button beside the article.
