On Wednesday, 4 November 2026, ELZ will host Babeslam: There Are Worse Things I Could Do at Where Else? in Margate. The event will feature 10 poets competing for the Babeslam title, performing their pieces and being scored by the audience. The highest score will win, and the winning poet will headline the next slam.
ELZ is a Margate-based multidisciplinary artist and comedian who founded Babeslam, a poetry slam aimed at giving a platform to new voices, first-timers, and those returning from performance hibernation. ELZ will host the event, making jokes and providing an entertaining evening of laughs, cocktails, and words.
The event is part of ELZ's work in promoting new talent in Kent, and it is a great opportunity for aspiring poets to showcase their skills. To attend, tickets are with the button beside the article. The event is 18+ only, and photo ID is required.
This will be one of the last chances to experience Babeslam, as ELZ has announced that the project will be coming to an end after eight years to make way for new work.
