Brighton Welcomes David Byrne

David Byrne's career has been a testament to his innovative and curious nature, with a body of work that spans multiple disciplines, including music, film, theatre, photography, and visual art. Since co-founding Talking Heads in 1975, he has consistently pushed the boundaries of creativity, cementing his position as one of the most influential artists of the last half century. His latest endeavour, a brand-new solo talk inspired by his forthcoming book, Sleeping Beauties, is set to explore the intriguing concept of overlooked ideas and their eventual impact on the world.

This November, Byrne will be presenting his talk at the Theatre Royal Brighton, as part of a strictly limited run of five events in the UK. The talk will examine why some ideas flourish almost instantly, while others remain hidden in plain sight, often for years before gaining recognition. Byrne will celebrate the visionaries who were ahead of their time and the creations that went on to change the world, from the discovery of continental drift and dark matter to the works of renowned artists such as Bach, Vermeer, and Melville.

Byrne's fees for this event will be donated to the Rocksteady Foundation, demonstrating his commitment to using his platform for the greater good. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase a hardback copy of his new book, Sleeping Beauties, at a discounted price, which can be collected at the event. On Monday, 9 November 2026, at the Theatre Royal Brighton in Brighton, audiences will have the chance to hear one of today's most original creative minds reflect on creativity, innovation, recognition, and the remarkable stories of ideas that almost disappeared from history.

The event offers a unique chance to experience Byrne's insightful and thought-provoking talk, and to gain a deeper understanding of the complex and often overlooked process of idea generation and recognition.
