Truman Capote Story
A play about Truman Capote's life is coming to Brighton, starring Jesse Tyler Ferguson. The production, directed by Rob Ashford, will run for a limited time at the Theatre Royal Brighton.
The play TRU, written by Jay Presson Allen, originated in New York, where it was a sell-out success. It is now being brought to Brighton by Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who stars as Truman Capote.
The production is set in Truman Capote's New York apartment in December 1975, following the publication of an excerpt from his tell-all novel Answered Prayers. This event had a significant impact on Capote's life, alienating him from his high-society friends and leading to a period of reflection on his life, career, and relationships.
Jesse Tyler Ferguson, known for his role in Modern Family, will bring his portrayal of Truman Capote to the Theatre Royal Brighton, directed by award-winner Rob Ashford. The play will run from Friday, 30 October 2026, until Saturday, 14 November 2026, at 23:00, at the Theatre Royal Brighton in Brighton.
