Mermaid Chunky Dance Party

Are you looking for a danceable and curiosity-rich experience? Mermaid Chunky, a duo of artists Freya Tate and Moina Moin, is coming to Where Else? in Margate on Saturday, 31 October 2026. Their music features tracks such as "Céilí", "Chaperone", "Frogsporn", "Nature Girl", and "Tiny Gymnast", which showcase their eclectic sound.

Mermaid Chunky's live shows are a party, with sculptural visuals and costumes that add to the overall experience. The duo's background is rooted in their meeting in Brighton, where they began creating music together. They have performed alongside notable artists such as The Comet Is Coming and Alabaster DePlume, and have been signed to DFA Records.

The duo's music is a collective dance, made better with more people, ideas, layers, and instruments, making this event a must-attend for fans of imaginative and avant-pop music. With their debut album slif slaf slof released in 2024, Mermaid Chunky has established themselves as a breakthrough artist, and their live shows are not to be missed.

Their live sound is created using loop stations, keys, synths, percussion, toys, and saxophone, making for a truly immersive experience. Moin's handmade stage costumes, described as sea creatures made of cloth and silks, add an extra layer of visual interest to the performance.
