Quarterhouse (Folkestone)

Esther Ghey's daughter Brianna faced transphobia, and Ghey's memoir Under a Pink Sky reflects on this experience, as well as the impact of grief. On Sunday, 15 November 2026, at Quarterhouse in Folkestone, Ghey will discuss these issues and how to create safer futures for young people online.

The conversation will be chaired by local author and speaker Ann Morgan, and will focus on empathy, resilience, and ways to keep children safe in the digital world. This event is part of Folkestone Book Festival, which celebrates stories, ideas, and conversation by the sea.

Tickets are with the button beside the article. The festival is also part of Folkestone is a Library, a town-wide celebration of reading, writing, and storytelling, and includes a £5 Cost of Living Ticket available with no questions asked.
