On Sunday, 15 November 2026, the Theatre Royal Brighton in Brighton will host the play HOME, a poignant production that sheds light on the lives of residents and workers at an East London homeless shelter. Directed by Michael Speight and written by Nadia Fall, this play weaves together the true stories of 14 individuals, using verbatim dialogue to convey the harsh realities of homelessness. The company behind the play, Beginners Please, is a community outreach theatre company that works with people who have faced unimaginable hardship.
The play's use of real-life stories and experiences is what makes it so impactful, giving audiences a glimpse into the lives of those who are often overlooked. By featuring amateur actors who have themselves experienced homelessness, the production adds an extra layer of authenticity to the storytelling. The result is a powerful and thought-provoking piece of theatre that will leave audiences laughing, crying, and reflecting on their own perceptions of homelessness.
