Quarterhouse (Folkestone)
The workshop, titled "The Art of Writing Together", challenges participants to bring a writing partner and explore the gaps between their own understanding of themselves and how others see them. Through dynamic prompts and guided exercises, participants will shape vivid creative work from real-life material.
Jarred McGinnis, the workshop leader, is an award-winning author known for his debut novel "The Coward" and his latest book "There Is No Meant to Be", a hybrid memoir that explores his family and life since a paralysing accident. McGinnis has been recognised as one of the UK's ten best emerging writers by The Guardian and has won the 2023 Eccles Centre & Hay Festival Writer's Award.
The workshop will take place on Friday, 13 November 2026, at Quarterhouse, Folkestone. Tickets are with the button beside the article. This event is part of the Folkestone Book Festival, a town-wide celebration of reading, writing, and storytelling, and is supported by various organisations including Eurotunnel, Holiday Extras, and Arts Council England.
With only 20 places available, advance booking is essential for this rare opportunity to learn from an acclaimed author in an intimate and supportive setting. The workshop is designed to inspire, challenge, and unlock new ideas, making it suitable for experienced writers, beginners, and those curious to explore their creativity.
