UK Subs Final Shows

The fact that UK Subs have been going strong for 50 years is a testament to the band's relentless energy and dedication to their craft. Formed in London in 1976 by vocalist Charlie Harper, the band began as a pub rock group called the Marauders before becoming a punk band after seeing shows at The Roxy. Harper, who came from the R&B scene, remains the only constant member of the band, with the current line-up including Alvin Gibbs, Steve Straughan, and Stefan Häublein.

UK Subs are known for their fast and raw sound, which has been described as pioneering the hardcore punk genre. Their early singles, including Stranglehold, Warhead, and Tomorrow's Girls, all reached the UK Top 40, and their debut album Another Kind of Blues was released in 1979 to critical acclaim. The band's live performances have been legendary, with their 1980 live album Crash Course being their biggest seller. They have also been a regular fixture at the Rebellion Festival, playing nearly every year since its inception in 1996.

The band's music has been widely influential, with Guns N' Roses covering their song Down on the Farm in 1990. Their songs have also been featured in films, such as This Is England, which included their track Warhead. With a career spanning five decades, UK Subs have left an indelible mark on the punk rock scene, and their final shows are sure to be a celebration of their enduring legacy.
