Experimental Electronic Music in Whitstable

The Coastal Electronauts' debut compilation, Coastal Electronauts Vol 1, set the tone for their eclectic sound, featuring uplifting tracks with dark drones, modular workouts, and cosmic ambience.

The collective, which began as a lockdown radio project in 2020, has grown into a monthly live event in Whitstable, showcasing experimental electronic artists alongside visuals by diz_qo. Regular members include Peter Coyte, Sophie Sirota, Clive Walpole, Rhys Norster, and Sebastian Smith, each bringing their unique sound to the table.

On Thursday, 12 November 2026, The Coastal Electronauts will present SEMS at the Whitstable Umbrella Community Support centre in Whitstable. Tickets are with the button beside the article. The event is expected to feature a mix of local and visiting artists, with an open-mic format that allows for improvisation and experimentation.

The Coastal Electronauts' music is shaped by coastal field recordings and tides, creating a distinct sound that is both ambient and immersive. With their own label releasing compilations and debut albums, the collective is a testament to the vibrant local electronic scenes springing up across the UK.
