On Thursday, 5 November 2026, the Whitstable Umbrella Community Support centre in Whitstable will host the Different Strokes Whitstable group, which will meet until Thursday, 17 December 2026. The group, coordinated by Jim Currie, is a place where working-age and younger stroke survivors can meet other people affected by stroke.

Jim Currie is a stroke survivor who has been involved with Different Strokes for over 17 years, having suffered two strokes in 2006. He previously coordinated the Bexleyheath group in south-east London for about 10 years before setting up the Whitstable group. The group meets on the first and third Thursday of each month from 2pm to 4pm at the Whitstable Umbrella Centre.

Different Strokes is a UK charity run by younger stroke survivors for younger stroke survivors, providing peer support, social groups, and guidance for families. The charity aims to help people reclaim their lives after stroke. The Whitstable group offers a chance for working-age and younger survivors to meet others who have been affected by stroke, and to get involved with the charity.

The group meetings will take place at the Whitstable Umbrella Community Support centre, with pay and display parking available in the car park behind the centre. Tickets are with the button beside the article.
