Bowie Night 2027 Celebration

David Bowie's major commercial breakthrough came in 1972 with the Ziggy Stardust character and the album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, which remains one of his most influential works. Born David Robert Jones in Brixton, London, he formed his first band, the Konrads, at the age of 15 and later adopted the stage name David Bowie, becoming a solo artist. His early success was marked by the release of 'Space Oddity' in 1969, a UK number-five single from his self-titled second album.

Bowie's music spanned multiple genres, from art rock to electronica and ambient styles, as seen in the Berlin Trilogy of Low, 'Heroes' and Lodger, developed with Brian Eno. He also achieved significant commercial success with the album Let's Dance in 1983, co-produced by Nile Rodgers. With a career spanning over four decades, Bowie released eleven UK number-one albums and sold over 100 million records worldwide.
