Young Women Take Centre Stage

The Horsebridge Arts Centre in Whitstable will soon be filled with the vibrant artwork of young women aged 14-18, each piece a reflection of their unique interests, experiences, and imagination. As visitors explore the exhibition, they will be immersed in a diverse range of artistic expressions, from paintings to sculptures, and other creative mediums. The artwork on display is not only a testament to the talent of these young women but also a celebration of their individuality and confidence.

The Making Space project, which has led to this exhibition, has been a collaborative effort between the young women and professional artists. Through this project, the participants have had the opportunity to develop new techniques, explore their creativity, and build their confidence. The fact that they have been involved in curating the exhibition, bringing their individual voices into one collective space, is a significant aspect of the project. This approach has enabled them to take ownership of their work and showcase their artistic talents in a professional setting.

The exhibition is the result of a successful Spacehive Community Crowdfunding Campaign and a generous contribution from Kent County Council. The support of these organisations has been instrumental in making the project a reality, providing the necessary resources and funding for the young women to develop their artistic skills. The fact that the project has been made possible by the community's donations is a testament to the importance of supporting and empowering young women in the arts.

The exhibition will run from Friday, 30 October 2026, to Monday, 2 November 2026, at 23:00, at The Horsebridge Arts Centre in Whitstable.
