Definitely worth watching in movie theaters with a big screen. There were some very moving scenes towards the end that I think will stay with me for a while. If you like unlikely survival scenarios, the ocean and whales this is your film!

Acting was not the greatest in this film however, it was a fantastic thriller survival movie about a guy who goes scuba, diving and get swallowed by a whale and has to escape. The filming was really entertaining, and also the backstory to his life playing over and over in his hand while he is trying to escape and dealing with the death of his father.

Do not eat anything while watching this film cause you might barf!!! Yes, it's cliché at times, but I couldn't mind it too much. This movie is about surviving an unfortunate whale accident, but it is just as much (if not more) about family relationships, grief and parental expectations. I truly enjoyed the movie and was happily surprised about its emotional depths; I also thought Josh Brolin and Austin Abrams gave some masterful performances…

Weaving a tale of complex family dynamics and buoyed by tense action, consuming beauty, and stylish environments Whalefall grabs you and pulls you in, at least for awhile. The first two thirds of the movie are visually appealing and tell an engrossing story. But the closer we get to whalefall the film becomes less engaging, less impressive visually, and drained of any emotion investment I had in the family drama. Some of my negative feelings…

I thought Whalefall was good! The survival premise was interesting, and I really enjoyed the claustrophobic sequences inside the whale. Having taken a scuba-diving class, I also appreciated some of the more accurate diving details. Austin Abrams and Josh Brolin were good, but I didn't think their relationship had enough emotional depth for the bigger symbolism to really work. The final act also got a little too CGI-heavy and relied on some…

Whalefall is the best survival thriller that I have ever seen. I haven't seen 127 Hours yet, but I expect they will compete for the number one spot. Most survival thrillers don’t offer anything extra—there are no stakes other than trying to survive, which makes most of them, in my opinion, average or at best above average. But with the movie Whalefall, The movie is not about the whale at all it’s a vehicle for the writer to establish the real…

There's a whole genre of survival films about teaching you to survive impossible situations, and that's exactly where Whalefall belongs; it's aiming to inspire, which it does intermittently due to well- cast -leads in Josh Brolin and Austin Abrams. This delivers everything I wanted for this movie. The scene he gets swallowed is electrifying, so exciting. Each step along the way is riveting. A surprisingly shocking story with a strong emotional…
