Women of Deal Unveil Hidden Histories

Are you curious about the women who lived in Deal while their men were out fighting battles or rescuing mariners from the Goodwin Sands? The Women of Deal, a community group, is bringing an original play to the Astor Theatre that explores the forgotten stories of these women. Through a mix of real-life accounts from letters and journals, and imagined scenarios, the play will reveal how women coped with the daily threats and challenges of invasion, unemployment, and air raids.

The play is a collaborative production that delves into the hidden history of Deal's women, offering a unique glimpse into their lives during times of turmoil. By attending the performance, you will be supporting a good cause, as all profits will be donated to the Deal Museum.

The Women of Deal will perform their community play at the Astor Theatre in Deal on Saturday, 7 November 2026. To find out more and book your tickets, click the button beside this article.
