Women of Deal Uncover Hidden Histories

The Women of Deal, a group of local women, have come together to create an original collaborative production that tells the story of their town's forgotten female histories.

• The play is partly drawn from letters and journals, offering a glimpse into the everyday lives of women in Deal as they coped with invasion threats, new religions, unemployment, strikes, and air raids. • The production also features imagined scenes, bringing to life the stories of women who lived in Deal while their menfolk were away fighting battles, rescuing mariners, or working in the coal mines. • All profit from the performances will be donated to the Deal Museum, supporting the preservation of local history and culture.

The Women of Deal will perform their play at The Astor Theatre, Deal, on Saturday, 7 November 2026, with two shows at 3pm and 7pm. Tickets are with the button beside the article. This community play is a unique opportunity to learn about the hidden histories of Deal's women and support a good cause, making it an event not to be missed in the town's cultural calendar.
