Trinity Clocktower Tours 2026

This event has finished

Trinity Clocktower Tours 2026 took place 31 Oct 2026 at Trinity Theatre (Royal Tunbridge Wells).

The story of Trinity Theatre's Clocktower Tours begins with the building's designer, Decimus Burton, who created the iconic structure in the 1820s as the town's first parish church. Over the years, the building has undergone significant changes, including a conversion to a theatre in the 1970s. In 2024, the Clocktower was opened to the public after a five-year project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, with Kaner Olette designing the new access routes.

The Clocktower Tours offer a unique experience, allowing visitors to climb 118 steps from the first floor and explore the history of the building and the town through exhibitions and interactive elements. The tours will take place on Saturday, 31 October 2026, at Trinity Theatre in Royal Tunbridge Wells, with two slots available at 10:30am and 11:15am. Tickets are with the button beside the article.

For those who cannot manage the stairs, a fully accessible kiosk in the foyer provides an alternative way to experience the Clocktower's history, allowing visitors to explore the tower floor by floor at any time the foyer is open. The Clocktower's restoration was made possible by the work of quantity surveyor Huntley Cartwright, who oversaw conservation and access works to the Grade II* listed building. With a suggested donation of £5 per person, visitors can support Trinity's charitable work while enjoying a unique and educational experience.
