Family Film and Animation Workshop

The Cinecity event at Fabrica, Brighton, originates from a collaboration between Michel Gondry and his daughter Maya, resulting in a playful new animation.

What is the event about? The event features a screening of _Maya, Give Me a Title_, a charming animated comedy created using a combination of hand-made paper cut-out animation, stop motion, and live action, as well as a hands-on paper-cut animation workshop led by artist Esther Marshall.

Who is behind the event? The film _Maya, Give Me a Title_ is made by Michel Gondry in collaboration with his daughter Maya, while the workshop is led by artist Esther Marshall, who will guide participants through bringing their creations to life through animation.

What can participants expect to do? During the workshop, participants will create their own characters using coloured paper, scissors, and tape, and then bring them to life through animation using a mobile stop motion app, with the option to download a free app before the session, such as _Stop Motion Factory_ or _PicPac Stop Motion_ and _Timelapse_. The event takes place on Saturday, 14 November 2026, at Fabrica, Brighton, and tickets or details are available with the button beside this article.
