Are you looking for a unique and creative experience that combines art and music? On Wednesday, 4 November 2026, Fabrica in Brighton will host 'Duality: Draw to Live Music', an evening of abstract and figurative drawing to live music performed by VCSB. This alternative post-punk/electronic trio from Brighton will play an ambient and mostly mellow set using instruments like the synth and electric guitar, alongside vocals, providing a captivating soundtrack for your drawings.

The workshop is designed to be enjoyable for all artistic abilities, and no life drawing experience is needed. You'll have the opportunity to draw the musicians while they play, as well as create abstract drawings inspired by the sounds. The session will unfold across four sections, progressing from 2-minute songs to 30 minutes of improvisation, with optional prompts to guide your drawings, such as drawing to the rhythm and drawing the band without looking at your paper. A range of drawing materials will be provided, including charcoal, ink, graphite sticks, and pencils, along with sheets of paper.

VCSB is a Brighton-based trio that makes experimental pop rooted in synth-pop and post-punk minimalism. The band consists of Saul Bazley, Tris Claude Houseman, and Ronan Goron, who combine melodramatic and tongue-in-cheek vocals with angular, distortion-drenched guitar and sputtering vintage synthesizers. Although they have released two singles in 2026, 'People' and 'Face', and have played various venues in Brighton and Hove, their performance at Duality will be an ambient and mostly mellow set, a change from their usual sound.

The event will take place at Fabrica, a historic building with stunning acoustics that will enhance the experience of drawing to live music. Towards the end of the evening, you'll be invited to place your favourite drawing in a shared floor space, allowing everyone to enjoy the variety of drawings together. A selection of alcoholic and soft drinks, as well as snacks, will be available at the bar throughout the evening. Tickets are with the button beside the article.
