Allo Allo Stage Play

On Sunday, 15 November 2026, the Grove Theatre Eastbourne in Eastbourne will host the stage play 'Allo! 'Allo!, based on the hugely successful British television series of the same name. The play tells the story of Rene, a café owner in occupied France, who finds himself in a series of hilarious misadventures. With his tone-deaf wife Edith by his side, Rene must navigate the challenges of hiding a priceless portrait stolen by the Nazis in a sausage in their cellar, as well as sheltering two British airmen until they can be repatriated.

The play features a range of colourful characters, including Major-General von Klinkerhoffen and the Gestapo officer Herr Flick, who add to the chaos and confusion that surrounds Rene's café. As the story unfolds, Rene must use all his wit and cunning to save his café and his life, especially when he learns that the Führer is scheduled to visit the town. The play is full of humorous moments, including the use of a wireless disguised as a cockatoo to communicate with London, and the appearance of tricksters disguised as Hitler who frequent the café.
