Brighton Welcomes An Afternoon Of Indie
A unique event celebrating the best of indie music is coming to Brighton, featuring a mix of classics from across the decades. The party will showcase tracks from iconic artists, including the incomparable David Bowie.
Indie music, with its eclectic blend of styles and influences, has long been a staple of British culture, and its rich history will be celebrated in Brighton on Saturday, 21 November 2026, at the DUST venue. At the heart of this event is the music of David Bowie, a visionary artist who defied categorisation and continually reinvented himself throughout his career. Born David Robert Jones in Brixton, London, in 1947, Bowie's early life was marked by a passion for music, which led him to form his first band, the Konrads, at the age of 15.
Bowie's rise to fame was gradual, with his first major success coming in 1969 with the release of 'Space Oddity', a single that showcased his unique blend of glam rock and science fiction themes. However, it was the introduction of his Ziggy Stardust persona in 1972 that truly cemented his status as a star, and the accompanying album, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, remains one of his most beloved works. Throughout his career, Bowie collaborated with a range of artists, including Brian Eno, with whom he created the influential Berlin Trilogy, and Nile Rodgers, who co-produced his commercially successful album Let's Dance in 1983.
Bowie's music is characterised by its diversity and experimentation, incorporating elements of art rock, electronica, and ambient styles, and his influence can be heard in a wide range of artists who have followed in his footsteps. With a career spanning over four decades, Bowie released numerous iconic albums, including Young Americans and Blackstar, his final studio album, which was released just two days before his death in 2016. His legacy continues to be celebrated, with his estate authorising various projects, including the show David Bowie: You're Not Alone, which showcases his remarkable body of work.
The event in Brighton will feature a mix of indie classics, including tracks from David Bowie, Pulp, The Clash, and many more, and will run from 3pm to 7pm. Tickets are with the button beside the article, and attendees are advised to bring ID, as the event has a strict door policy of no under 30s. After the party, there will be plenty of time to grab some food, head to the pub, or go home and relax, making for a enjoyable and relaxing afternoon in Brighton.
